The only thing 22-year-old Laura has longed for since her childhood is to be a painter and find her missing father. But this isn’t an easy task for a young woman of the local nobility in  Normandy in the 1920s.
Gradually she breaks out of her prearranged and unfulfilling marriage and sets off on a journey throughout Europe to find her father-artist and repeatedly creates her only lifetime picture motive - a red horse, which wants to show him.
